independent convenor of the whole research system
Regional health was missing from the national strategy.
Now it’s in it
We wrote the report and convened the roundtable. It’s now in the national strategy.
Research Australia connects Australian health and medical research. We are the only organisation that brings every part of the system together in one place.
Our members are universities, hospitals and health services, medical research institutes, industry, charities and philanthropists (more than 120 organisations spanning discovery through to the care people receive). We are independent of any single one of them, which is why we can bring them all to the table.
We build the evidence, put the case to government, and connect the people doing the work so that Australia invests wisely in research, translates it faster, keeps its researchers, and makes sure the benefits reach everyone.
Convening health and medical research. Accelerating innovation.

What we’re working towards
A future where a clinical trial is as reachable from Dubbo as it is from Sydney. Where a woman’s symptoms are researched as thoroughly as a man’s. Where a discovery made in Australia is manufactured in Australia.
Each one is a funding decision, a policy decision or a workforce decision, and each one is on our table this year.
